The best BAS-P loadout in MW2

The SMG needs a little boost to be viable

The BAS-P arrived in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with the Season 1 update. It’s a compact submachine gun that closely resembles the MPX SMG, which is another version of the MP5. The BAS-P wasn’t the best SMG in the game when it first arrived at the tail end of 2022; it lacked solid damage range and was quite difficult to control. However, after some buffs and a new loadout, the BAS-P is a solid SMG in MW2.

Over the course of the past few seasons, the BAS-P has seen a number of changes that have affected its overall performance in MW2 and Warzone. Now, in Season 5, the SMG isn’t the best you can use, but it’s an enjoyable weapon that can get the job done at close or mid-range.

To see the best loadout for the BAS-P in MW2, check out the guide below.

Best BAS-P loadout in MW2

For my BAS-P loadout, I’ll be focusing on damage range and mobility more than anything else. With these two stats improved, the BAS-P can compete much better with the Vaznev-9K and Lachmann Sub in the SMG class.

  • Barrel: 10.5″ Bruen Typhon
  • Optic: Cronen Mini Pro/SZ Mini/Cronen Mini Red Dot
  • Stock: Bruen Flash V4 Stock
  • Underbarrel: FSS Sharkfin 90
  • Rear Grip: Bruen Flash Grip

This loadout is mostly about boosting damage range while trying to keep mobility high. I have the 10.5″ Bruen Typhon barrel equipped first, which increases damage range and bullet velocity. The FSS Sharkfin 90 underbarrel improves aiming stability while the Bruen Flash Grip improves both ADS and sprint-to-fire speeds.

Rounding out the loadout is the Bruen Flash V4 Stock to add more mobility, and the Cronen Mini Pro optic, which is great for close and medium-range gunfights. While an optic isn’t totally necessary for the loadout, I find that the BAS-P performs better with one equipped.

As a final note, you can use the BAS-P in the new Modern Warfare 3 and use this same loadout to great effect. However, you will need to change most of the rest of the class, as the perks have been entirely changed in the new multiplayer title. You can still use the same lethal or tactical as well as a similar secondary weapon. Of course, I suggest using some of the new content first so you can experience some of the fresh items in MW3.
