TFT: How to make a Hyper Roll Sorcerer team

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The most recent Teamfight Tactics (TFT) patch has brought Hyper Rolling back into the meta. This Hyper Roll team composition uses the Star Guardian and Sorcerer bonuses to hyper-roll over opponents.

The Champions

Hyper Roll teams in TFT always make use of cheap and common units to snowball early game. As such, here is the basic team comp:

  • Poppy (Star Guardian/Vanguard)
  • Zoe (Star Guardian/Sorcerer)
  • Twisted Fate (Chrono/Sorcerer)
  • Syndra (Star Guardian/Sorcerer)
  • Wukong (Chrono/Vanguard)
  • Xerath (Dark Star/Sorcerer)

The above units are all essential to this team. The following are other options you can take:

  • Leona (Cybernetic/Vanguard)
  • Lux (Dark Star/Sorcerer)
  • Jayce (Space Pirate/Vanguard)
  • Vel’Koz (Void/Sorcerer)

Using Leona and Jayce will get you to the four Vanguard bonus, whereas using Lux and Vel’Koz will get you to the six Sorcerer bonus. Both options are viable, and you should go with what you are getting in your rolls and items.

Strategy and positioning

The strategy for this team involves re-rolling aggressively (known in TFT as hyper rolling) for cheap units. In this composition, you should aim to get a three-star Poppy, Zoe, and Twisted Fate. You should spend the majority of your gold doing this and only use it for leveling up when you need to put another Champion on the board.

Positioning for this team composition is very easy. Your Sorcerer units should be in the back row in a line, with Zoe in a corner. Meanwhile, your Vanguard units should stand in the front row, where they can protect your Sorcerers. Twisted Fate should have units on his flanks to protect him from Bliztcrank.

Items and when to build the team

Twisted Fate and Poppy are your most important units and should be given items. Morellonomicon and Spear of Shojin are essential for Twisted Fate. You can give him two Spears of Shojin to really maximize his potential. Poppy works well with Rabadon’s Deathcap and tank items. The shield she gets from the bonus Spell Power helps her survive.

You should only build this team if you get a lot of Twisted Fate and Poppy early. If you can’t get these units to three-stars, you will likely lose the game. If you can get these units, however, and you have the right items, this is one of the strongest TFT teams out there right now.
