The latest Hearthstone patch is here with the Maw and Disorder Mini-Set, the return of Sylvanas in Battlegrounds and more.
Maw and Disorder Mini-Set for Murder at Castle Nathria
The all-new Maw and Disorder Mini-Set for the Murder at Castle Nathria expansion features a reference to the Shadowlands expansion from the World of Warcraft universe. Sylvanas Windrunner, who is also the former Warchief of the Horde, is now standing trial in front of the Jailer.
As for the Maw and Disorder Mini-Set itself, it has 35 new cards that Hearthstone players can add to their collection. According to the announcement, the cards can be gathered via Murder at Castle Nathria packs or as a complete 66-card Mini-Set.
The complete Mini-Set includes the following:
- 4 Legendary cards (x1)
- 1 Epic card (x2)
- 14 Rare cards (x2)
- 16 Common cards (x2)
The normal version of this set can be obtained in-game for either 1,500 Runestones or 2,000 gold. Meanwhile, the completely golden version can be bought for either 7,000 Runestones or $69.99.
Hearthstone Battlegrounds: Sylvanas returns
For fans of Sylvanas and Hearthstone Battlegrounds, the Dark Lady has returned to the game mode. Her updated hero power is Reclaimed Souls, which lets the player buff their minions that perished last combat.
Sylvanas first entered the game mode back in 2019 but got removed from the pool of characters in 2020. Her old hero power, Banshee’s Blessing, removed a friendly minion and gave adjacent minions +1/+1.
Other notable Hearthstone Battlegrounds updates include the new Legendary Battlegrounds Boards. These boards have six different visuals during the following in-game events:
- Recruit phase
- Combat phase
- When a player is in the top 4
- When a player is on a win streak
- When a player is at low health
- When a player lands a big hit
According to Blizzard, these animations can be experienced through the Murloc Hideaway Legendary Battlegrounds Board that will be available beginning Oct. 11.
Charge keyword arrives in Mercenaries
The Charge keyword is in the Mercenaries game mode. A summoned character with this keyword can attack their target immediately.
As for new characters, they include Murloc Holmes, Ysera, Bwonsamdi, Korrak the Bloodrager, Archimonde, Prince Malchezaar, Neeru Fireblade, Nemsy Necrofizzle, Garona Halforcen, Khadgar, Medivh, Tess Greymane, Genn Greymane and Aranna Starseeker.
A bunch of existing characters also got updated to include the new Charge keyword. These include N’Zoth, Zar’jira, the Sea Witch, C’Thun, Warmaster Voone, King Krush and Old Murk-Eye.
Meanwhile, 11 new bounties are available in the game mode alongside the new zone. Additional bounties are in the Felwood Zone and Blackrock Mountain Zone.
MMR updates and more
For new players in the apprentice rank or those with low MMR, they can now face AI opponents in the Standard ladder. According to Blizzard, this helps players have more fun while they’re still learning the game.
Meanwhile, players who reach bronze get offered a battle-ready deck for the class they play the most. Those who reach platinum also get a second battle-read deck for their second most-played Hearthstone class.
As for Duels, cards from the Maw and Disorder Mini-Set can be used to build a deck. While the new Mini-Set cards have been added to card buckets, Sire Denathrius is now removed from card buckets.
Moreover, the Arena game mode enters a new season alongside an updated card pool. The pool includes sets from Core, Blackrock Mountain, Kobolds & Catacombs, Ashes of Outland, Journey to Un’goro, Rise of Shadows and Murder at Castle Nathria plus the Maw and Disorder Mini-Set.
