Heading into Round 10

Tonight will see Round 10, the final round of the BP Supercars All Star Eseries. It’s been an interesting few weeks leading to this point. Drivers have traded the leader’s position throughout the series. But in Round 8, things really started to solidify.

Shane van Gisbergen took the clean sweep in Round 8, setting himself up for victory. He gained a comfortable 143 point lead, but this was swept away in Round 9. Although he won the first two races, van Gisbergen became unstuck in the final race, finishing at a mere 14th. The second place holder, Scott McLaughlin, came in for the win. With McLaughlin’s victory, van Gisbergen heads into tonight with only a 78-point lead.

Supercars Eseries ladder

You can check out all the points, leaders, and ladder standings as we head into the final round in the image below. A win grants the driver 75 points. With three races each round, McLaughlin is far from out of the winners circle. It’s almost neck and neck for third place too! Drivers receive 69 and 65 points for second and third place, respectively. How many “battle packs” can you count below?

While there have been a few surprises and lots of wildcard entries from pros, amateurs, and celebrities, the top of the ladder has been fairly well predicted. As we discussed before the start of the series, it seemed some drivers had an advantage. Drivers like van Gisbergen, McLauglin, De Pasquale, and Mostert have spent more time in the simulator than others. And it shows. These drivers have been consistently in the lead at every race. It’s been great to see others improve over the weeks, but it’s clear that physical world driving and simulation driving aren’t necessarily interchangeable.

With the re-launch of the Supercars physical race series from late July, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Supercars Eseries. Hopefully, we can share more information with you soon.

Don’t miss out on the final round

In the meantime, racing fans definitely do not want to miss the final round of the Supercars Eseries. Will Scott McLaughlin show his Twitch fans he has what it takes to win? Or will Shane van Gisbergen storm home for the trophy?

You can catch all the action on Fox Sports, Kayo, Supercars.com, Supercars Facebook Page, and Supercars Teams’ Facebook Pages. Some of the drivers even have their own Twitch channels you can watch from. You can also interact with all the fans on the official Supercars Twitch broadcast. Racing starts from 7:00 p.m. AEST tonight, so make sure to tune in.
