A department store in Spain has allegedly leaked the price of the PlayStation 5. According to photos of inventory scans and checkout counters, the PlayStation 5 has a retail price of €499 (around $591.15) and €399 ($472.69).

As you can see from the second tweet, this same picture has already been circulated in “Spanish Telegram groups.” These images appear to come from El Corte Inglés, one of the largest department store organizations in Europe.
Considering that the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X are going for €299/$299 and €499/$499 respectively, then it makes sense for the PlayStation 5 to have similar pricing. Instead of an exact currency conversion as I did above, the PlayStation 5 will go for €499/$499 and €399/$399. The price differences are not for size and power, but instead for whether the console has a Blu-Ray drive or not.
The images captured, however, do not leak a release date. With the Xbox Series X and S releasing on November 10, it’s safe to bet that the PS5 will release around the same time window.
Will we get the PS5 price tomorrow?
It’s rather convenient these images have surfaced, especially with Sony’s PlayStation 5 Showcase event on September 16. It’s scheduled to be 40 minutes long, all live-streamed from Twitch and YouTube. So far, it will only feature titles for the console, most likely more console exclusives as well. However, many are expecting that Sony will reveal the official prices and release date as well.
At this point, PlayStation fans will probably riot if these questions are not answered at this showcase. Not sure if they can be strung along for a few more weeks for yet another reveal. But then again, Sony does enjoy its performances and countdowns.
Mark your calendar for the PS5 Showcase on September 16 at 1 PM PT. If you aren’t able to catch the livestream, stay tuned here for all announcements from the show.
