A new free agent VALORANT roster has been formed featuring former Rise, Cloud9 and Luminosity Gaming players, multiple sources told Upcomer on July 13.
The team, which is actively looking for an organization to represent, is led by former Rise player Abdo “c4Lypso” Agha and former Cloud9 player Josh “shinobi” Abastado.
Former Complexity player Mike “sharky” Gariti and inactive Luminosity Gaming player Brenden “stellar” McGrath also are featured on the roster. At the time of publication, the final member of the team is undecided.
Since some players are under contract with organizations such as Luminosity, the team will have to utilize at least one stand-in for the Riot-led events. According to one source close to the team, former Evil Geniuses player Aleksandar “aleksandar” Hinojosa and Tyler “sym” Porter could be options. The team will likely make significant changes if they cannot join an organization in the future.
In addition, the team will likely be changed for the upcoming VALORANT Championship Tour Stage 3 Challengers 2 Open Qualifier, which will begin on July 22. The free agent roster must finish inside of the top four to qualify for Challengers 2.
Former Cloud9 player shinobi was released by the organization on Dec. 11, 2020. C4Lypso was released by Rise just before the beginning of the Stage 3 Challengers 1 Open Qualifier. Rise went on to qualify for Challengers 1 following a victory against Cloud9 Blue in the round of 16.
The 24-year-old player stellar is an inactive member of Luminosity Gaming’s VALORANT roster. Therefore, he would likely be bought out of his contract by an organization or wait for his contract to expire.
As the team is looking for an organization, each player can be contacted for inquiries. C4Lypso and shinobi are leading the charge.
The free agent team will temporarily field the following roster:
- c4Lypso
- shinobi
- stellar
- sharky
- Final member (TBD)
