A deal for Kansas City Pioneers player Chad “Oderus” Miller to join Version1 is in the final stages, multiple sources told Upcomer on Monday. The deal will likely be completed soon, with Pioneers on the search for a new in-game leader today.

The deal to sign Oderus has been in the works for some time and will help Version1 fill the void left by the recently departed in-game leader Anthony “vanity” Malaspina, who left Version1 to join Cloud9 Blue earlier this month.

A few weeks ago, Version1 reached out to the Pioneers regarding his availability, as originally reported by Upcomer at the time of vanity’s departure. Oderus was signed to Pioneers in late June, while the organization recently announced the signing of former T1 coach Daniel “fRoD” Montaner. Oderus was a part of the original free agent FPL-C roster.

Version1 will compete in the upcoming last chance qualifier with Oderus, if the deal is complete by then. The qualifier, which will be the last chance for Version1 to qualify for Champions, will be hosted on LAN, Riot Games revealed today.

The qualifier will last from Oct. 12-17 following the conclusion of VCT Masters in Berlin, the second masters event of the year. It will also feature a double elimination format and will include some of the most popular and prominent teams in the region.

Sentinels, the best VALORANT team in the world, will not compete in the event since they have already secured automatic qualification for Champions.

Version1 have practiced with a few players following the departure of vanity, according to multiple sources. One of these players was 100 Thieves substitute Quan “dicey” Tran, as first reported by Upcomer last week, but he was not considered by Version1 following his trial.

If the deal is complete, Version1 will likely field the following roster:

  • Oderus
  • Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro
  • Erik “penny” Penny
  • Maxim “wippie” Shepelev
  • Loic “effys” Sauvageau
