FaZe Clan has been eyeing other high-profile players for the roster

While BabyJ has played with the roster for some time the organization trialled multiple players following Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen’s removal. Marved is likely going to join Team Envy, according to multiple sources.

One Reddit user noted that BabyJ has been listed with FaZe Clan for the upcoming VCT North America Stage 3 tournament, which is set to begin July 1. This is the first time BabyJ will make his appearance for FaZe Clan.

Former Version1 stand-in Jamal “jammyz” Bangash was a potential candidate for the role, but the organization did not end up signing him. Jammyz, while considered one of the hottest prospects in North American VALORANT, is yet to sign with a roster, according to one source.

The 22-year old previously played for Prospects, an orgless roster which disbanded earlier this year.

BabyJ and the future of FaZe Clan

BabyJ played for free agent roster ‘rice and meatballs’ during the VALORANT Champions Tour North America Stage 2 Challengers 1 Open Qualifier, which concluded in April of this year. His team managed to take down T1 in the first round, but ultimately lost to 100 Thieves 2-0.

FaZe Clan have had moderate success in VALORANT since the organization entered Riot’s FPS in June of last year. Former CS:GO players Jason “jasonR” Ruchelski and Corey “corey” Nigra both made the transition to VALORANT with this team.

The organization finished first at the VALORANT Champions Tour North America Stage 1 Challengers 3 event, which concluded in March. FaZe took down 100 Thieves in the final 3-0, and finished the tournament with one map loss to NRG in the upper bracket semi-finals. FaZe also took down Luminosity and T1 in the upper bracket finals and quarterfinals respectively.

With the acquisition of BabyJ, FaZe is set to field the following roster:

  • BabyJ
  • Corey
  • Zachary “ZachaREEE” Lombardo
  • Andrej “babybay” Francisty
  • Shane “rawkus” Flaherty
