Should Fortnite add more weather elements like the Snowstorms?

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The new snowstorms in Fortnite Winterfest are raging a war in-game and in the community. Many players are mixed as to what they think of the random weather changes. For some, the change is a great thing, as it switches up the gameplay and requires you to adapt. However, others argue it takes away skill and ruins gunfights because it’s hard to see anyone far away.

We currently don’t know why the snowstorms are in Fortnite, but they do raise a question. Should Epic Games implement more random weather elements in the future?

More weather in Fortnite

No one can argue that the snowstorms alter the gameplay of Fortnite. But some are in favor of these gameplay changes and some are not. While they do switch things up, some higher-tier players want the game to stay as it currently is.

Regardless, Epic Games has shown they will do what they think is best versus what the community thinks. So, will they implement additional weather elements in the future? It’s very possible they could. The snowstorms could be a storyline element or simply a part of Winterfest, so Epic Games’ willingness to use additional weather could depend on the snowstorms.

It’s possible that each season could feature a different weather element. For example, in Season 2, Epic could make the Fortnite map a tropical paradise, where rainfall and thunderstorms are common. That said, if the snowstorms really are just part of Winterfest, it seems unlikely that more weather elements will arrive in the future.

We should find out the meaning behind the snowstorms with the next update. Data-miners will undoubtedly dig into the files and most likely find some more details regarding the blizzards. If they are, in fact, a storyline element, it’s possible more weather elements could follow.
