The groups are set

Like Stage 1 Masters, four top seeded teams across the world will receive byes into the playoff stage. For Stage 2 Masters, those teams include Fnatic, XSET, Paper Rex and Leviatán; the rest of the teams will compete in the group stage, where four out of the eight remaining teams will proceed to the playoffs. Here are the groups:

Group A

  • OpTic Gaming (NA)
  • Guild Esports (EMEA)
  • LOUD (BRA)
  • KRÜ Esports (SA)

Group B

  • DRX (KR)
  • FunPlus Phoenix (EMEA)
  • Northeption (JP)
  • XERXIA (APAC)

Both groups bring interesting stories together with both new and experienced teams. To start, there is the chance of a Stage 1 Masters finals rematch in the group stage, between LOUD and OpTic Gaming in Group A. At the same time, Guild Esports get their chance to prove their worth internationally after a great stage performance.

As for Group B, we have three teams who might be in different regions, but aren’t actually too far from each other. DRX from Korea, Northeption from Japan and XERXIA from APAC will each fight for a spot in the playoffs. The outlier here is FunPlus Phoenix, a team that ranked #1 in their region, but wasn’t able to play in Stage 1 Masters due to roster issues. Now, they’ve earned a spot at Masters again in 2022, but will have to fight through the groups to make it to the playoffs.

Playoff schedule

As of right now, which top seeded teams will face which group stage winners is yet to be seen. However, we do know July 14 at 11 AM EST that the 2022 Stage 2 Masters playoffs will begin. Matches across both the upper bracket and lower bracket will continue until July 18 to end off the first weekend.

Then, on July 22, the upper bracket final and lower bracket semi-final will eventually lead to the grand finals on July 24. Then, fans will know which VALORANT team will be on top of the world in 2022.
