The end of Apex Legends Season 1 is approaching fast, and for those who are concerned with finishing: fear not. Today Respawn announced a new two-week event, which should help players level up fast. The studio also gave out the first details about the new and improved Season 2 Battle Pass.
Free Legendary skins and Double XP weekend
The event – called The Legendary Hunt – begins on June 4 and will last two weeks. XP gained during the first weekend after launch will be doubled. This bonus will apply to both the Battle Pass and regular progression.
The first time a player finishes in the top 5 of a match each day, they will be awarded an entire Battle Pass level. This means that a maximum of 14 extra levels can be gained during this event. This is in addition to levels gained through regular progression.
New Legendary cosmetics will be added to the store on a rotating basis. Battle Pass owners will also automatically gain a new R-301 legendary skin. Leveling up to 15 on the Pass also grants a new Wraith legendary skin.
The Legendary Hunt event marks the addition of Challenges to Apex Legends. Players will be competing in limited time challenges to gain new cosmetics, including the funky Bloodhound skin seen above. These challenges will pave the way for Daily and Weekly challenges to come in Season 2.
The most exciting part of the event is the Apex Elite Queue. Any player who finishes in the top 5 during the event will be able to join into a closed queue with other Top 5 players. This is the closest thing to a ranked lobby we have gotten so far in Apex, and it will no doubt make for some really action-packed matches.
As long as players keep placing in the top of 5 of their matches, they will remain eligible for the closed queue. Participants will receive an Elite Streak badge which tracks how many consecutive matches they have played in this mode.
Bigger, better, lootier Battle Pass
As we previously reported, Season 2 of the Apex Legends Battle Pass will feature a lot more content. “We’ve been listening to the community discussion regarding the Season 1 Battle Pass,” said Apex lead product manager Lee Horn in today’s announcement. Below is a full breakdown of what we know so far:
- Leveling up will be faster, thanks at least in part to the addition of Daily and Weekly Challenges. Horn said the challenges will “provide some interesting variation from game-to-game” without being too “wacky.”
- Much like the Season 1 Pass, level 100 will award a custom evolving weapon skin. The level 110 reward will be a recolor of that skin.
- The season-specific voice lines and basic stat trackers are gone. Instead, there will be three “new content categories.” Players will also be able to acquire three new legendary skins by progressing through the Pass.
- Progressing through the Pass will reward 1,200 Crafting Metals, which is enough to craft any legendary cosmetic.
Make sure to tune in to Daily Esports on June 4 for more details on The Legendary Hunt event! We will also update you on the upcoming Apex Legends Season 2 with details from Respawn’s EA PLAY 2019 livestream on June 8.
