G2 Esports look to expand their presence in VALORANT

According to a report from Dexerto, G2 Esports signed the former XSET Female roster from the European women’s VALORANT scene.

The organization competed in tournaments for both VALORANT (as XSET Female) and Counter-Strike (as XSET). These tournaments were few and far between for the team, who began competing in both on May 29. However, after mixed results and a second place finish at Birds of Prey, XSET released the roster from Counter-Strike and VALORANT on Sept. 20.

The former XSET roster has decades of combined experience from their time in the Counter-Strike scene and over a year of experience playing as a core five from their days on Team Originem. Now, according to the report, the XSET Female team will be making another big move by leaving Counter-Strike completely to give VALORANT another go on G2 Esports.

G2 Esports dominate all aspects of VALORANT

In the Dexerto report, G2 Esports are expected to take over the former XSET roster and add an additional VALORANT roster to their organization. G2 Esports have already become a top team in the European VALORANT scene. The main roster for G2 Esports was the fourth seed from EMEA coming into VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 3: Masters Berlin, where they finished top four out of the 16 teams at the major. Now, the organization will be adding one of the top female rosters from Counter-Strike to enter VALORANT EMEA Game Changers.

The organization will be missing out on the first series of Game Changers, which began on Sept. 27. However, if the report is true, G2 Esports will have two top-tier rosters competing in both the VALORANT Champions Tour and Game Changers for the remainder of the year.
