We are just a few weeks away from QuakeCon 2018, and Bethesda has released new details about the event. This includes the announcement that QuakeCon will host our first look at the gameplay of DOOM Eternal! Bethesda officially revealed the sequel to 2016’s reboot with a short cinematic trailer at E3 2018, and fans of the franchise have been eager to see more ever since.
DOOM Eternal is an immediate follow-up to DOOM, which seems to have the demon horde making its way to planet Earth. This is similar to the direction taken by the sequel in the original franchise in 1994. Simply titled Doom II, the old sequel tasked the marine with vanquishing the demons on humankind’s home turf.
This premise instantly promises an entirely new setting. It will be different and more varied than the consistently red and bleak atmosphere of Mars. Furthermore, the teaser shows new demon enemies for players to face off against. For fans of the game’s fast-paced multiplayer, this will hopefully include new demons to wield against online combatants. Only time will tell.
If you’re itching for a glimpse at the gameplay for DOOM Eternal, the preview will be part of QuakeCon 2018’s keynote address on Friday, August 10 at 11:00 AM CT. For those who cannot be there in person, the whole affair will be live-streamed on Bethesda’s Twitch channel.
What else will be shown at QuakeCon?
The Keynote address will also include looks at Quake Champions, RAGE 2, and The Elder Scrolls Online. Additionally, a special panel for Fallout 76 will take place on Saturday, August 11 at 11:00 AM CT. According to the official blog post, “Todd Howard and others from Bethesda Game Studios will take fans through a deeper dive into character systems and Perks coming in Fallout 76, followed by a Q&A with the team.” Bethesda’s Twitch channel will be streaming this panel as well.
