PUBG’s new QBU rifle will replace the Mini 14 on Sanhok

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

First, there was a new a map. Then, a new vehicle. Now there’s a new weapon hitting the islands of Sanhok. The QBU, a brand-new designated Marksman Rifle, will soon replace the Mini 14 on the game’s newest map.

There had been much speculation over a new weapon over the past few weeks. PUBG has finally released a Twitter video confirming the QBU’s arrival, one day after teasing the new Sanhok-exclusive Rony pickup truck.

QBU Features

The QBU features a new tripod that no other weapon on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has included. When shooting from prone status, the tripod’s added stability will help greatly reduce recoil. However, with the addition of the tripod, the new DMR does not come with a stock or grip slot leaving just the muzzle and extended/quickdraw slots available.

While the QBU has lower bullet damage than any other DMR rifle, it also has the fastest bullet spread of the set, giving it more of a semi-automatic feel. The new rifle will take 5.56 bullets and will be replacing the Mini 14, which will no longer spawn on Sanhok.

The QBU and the new Rony pickup, alongside various bugs and fps improvements, are expected to be playable on the test server soon. An official release date has not yet been announced.

But, what about Xbox?

The PUBG corporation has been largely focused on updating the PC version of the game and keeping what remains of the playerbase as happy and refreshed as possible. As the Xbox platform has yet to receive a release date for the new Sanhok map, players will have to admire the Sanhok-exclusive QBU and Rony from a distance — at least, for the time being. Sanhok is expected to arrive on the Xbox later this summer.

I will delve into PUBG on the Xbox and why they are behind in terms of development in a future post. Stay tuned!
