Another weapon in the launcher category is on the way to Fortnite. Coming soon in a future content update, the Proximity Grenade Launcher will make its debut. However, when exactly this will be remains a mystery.
Epic Games has made it a habit to introduce new items with every content update. Whether it be something like the Storm Flip or the Tactical Assault Rifle, there’s usually something new with each content update.
While some fans would like to see a new Pump Shotgun, a Grenade Launcher isn’t a bad second option. That said, let’s hope Epic Games doesn’t follow their previous footsteps of introducing a new weapon that is totally unbalanced.
How will this Proximity Grenade Launcher work?
Simply going by the name, this Grenade Launcher won’t act the same as the current in-game one. With the new weapon, the Launcher shots will all be focused on one area. You won’t be able to shoot wherever you aim the gun like the regular Grenade Launcher.
According to data-miner @FireMonkeyFN, this weapon already has stats in the game files. It does 70 base damage, holds two rockets, and has a reload time of 2.83 seconds. If these stats are correct, it doesn’t appear this weapon will be too overpowered. However, we still need to see how the “Proximity” part of the Launcher will work.

When can we expect this to come to Fortnite?
Since the Proximity Grenade Launcher already has stats in the files, it makes sense this is the next weapon to be added to Fortnite. The big question now is, when?
If we’re going by how Epic Games usually handles content updates, then this weapon should be included in the v9.21 content update. There are no other weapons with stats already in the game files.
The v9.21 content update should arrive later this week. However, if the Proximity Grenade Launcher doesn’t come with the update, then we should expect it very soon after that.
