nWay has released a new update for Power Rangers Battle for the Grid. The “version 2.0” release adds several new features, including online lobbies and cross-play with PS4.
The Battle for the Grid has grown
In about a year since launch, Battle for the Grid has doubled its roster and added a plethora of new features. These include a Story Mode, voiceovers from members of the original cast, cross-play, and cross-progression. Not only that, but developer nWay has recently announced an esports league for the title. The league will feature online and offline events, including sanctioned local tournaments, culminating in a final event at EVO.
Here comes version 2.0
Now, nWay is introducing another major Battle for the Grid update to players. Version 2.0 releases today with several features which have been requested by fans since the game’s launch, including:
- Online Lobbies – Allows up to 8 players to join together in friendly matches, where participants can battle in up to 4 different matches at a time
- Spectator Mode – Spectate on a match and be the next player up.
- Cross-play with PlayStation 4
With this update, Grid players will be able to play across every platform the game is available on. This means cross-play and cross-progression in ranked, casual, direct or lobby matches. This is unheard of in fighting games even among Triple-A titles, let alone a budget title, and shows a real dedication to the game.
nWay has done an unparalleled job in the modern fighting game market by listening to their players and working hard to bring Battle for the Grid to the level fans of fighting games and Power Rangers had hoped for since the game’s first announcement. Battle for the Grid is available now for $19.99 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. There is no better time than now for Morphin’ Time!
