Power generation guide — Once Human

Power generation in Once Human can be a little complicated at first, but you’ll quickly get the hang of it. You will need power for refrigerators, fuel generators, and other super helpful items that you need to progress further in the game.

Of course, there’s also the automated turrets that you can deploy to protect your Digby Boys while you’re off exploring. So here’s how to generate power in Once Human.

How to generate power in Once Human

The first think you’ll need is to unlock power generation in your Memetics Screen. This can be found under Logistics in the third section down (Ascendance), as shown in the below screenshot.

Solar generators are required for power generation in Once Human, and are the first generators you unlock in the game. However, to craft them, you’ll need fuses and some other parts. To make fuses, head over to your supplies workbench and click on the tools tab – here, you’ll be able to craft fuses.

Now it’s time to build a few solar generators. Make sure to place them outside in order for them to function properly. It wouldn’t make sense to put solar generators in-doors, would it?

You can find solar generators in the builing menu, unfer Facilities, and then Power Facility.

After placing your solar generators, you’ll also want to place a few terminals or pylons, to make sure your cable work stays neat. You can use ground, wall or ceiling terminals, as well as pylons to make sure your cables don’t become too messy.

After placing your terminals, go back to your solar generators and enter build mode by hitting B. You’ll get a prompt to attach a cable, hit the button and then go to your terminals.

You’ll get the prompt again to attach a wire to your terminal or pylon. Follow the prompt to complete a circuit.

Finally, attach a wire to your Pylon or terminal and then attach it to whatever you want to power. In this case, I chose a fridge, and as you can see, I’m successfully generating power and can now make ice cubes and keep all my food cold.

And that’s all there is to it. Follow these simple steps to generate your own power in Once Human, and make all the cool stuff that this unlocks. But what about when things get serious?

Advanced Power Generation

Solar Generators are quite easy to understand. Place them outdoors and you’ve got power (yep, even at night). But they only produce 15W, and as you progress, you’ll find that that’s not quite enough. So how do you get more power?
More advanced generators, of course.

Biomass Generators in Once Human

I recommend upgrading to the Biomass generators next. They’re easy to understand — Simply chop down some trees and you’ll have power for close to 140 hours.

You might notice that weird Deviation floating around one of my Biomass generators — plus, that generator is producing more power than it should. That’s an Electric Eel, and they can be caught while fishing.

They power up your generators and you can have as many as you want of those guys, so there’s always more power to unlock. Obviously, it’s pointless to have more Eels than generators, just FYI.

The next step up from Biomass Generators are the Advanced ones, which produce 30W of energy. They’re my choice, unless you want even more power!

(If you pictured Jeremy Clarkson yelling “power” just then, we’ll get along perfectly fine!)

Deviation Energy Generator

The big daddy, the Rolls Royce of energy generators in Once Human, but it comes with a serious flaw. It only works in areas polluted by Stardust. It’s a great option if you’re trying to farm for Acid though. Most of the time though, I don’t recommend this generator.

And that’s all there is to know about power generation in Once Human. You’re pretty much an expert now, nice work.

If you want something more specific, we also have an in-depth guide to fuel production in Once Human. If you need Acid though, I’ve got you there, too. Here’s my detailed guide on how to get over 600 Acid per hour in Once Human.
