Sly Reddit user lepracs discovered potential new map changes coming to Fortnite in the promotional video for the “Capoeira” emote. A few existing locations do not appear in the video, while a new castle sits in the background. This reveal follows the addition of the new Tomato Temple location earlier this week.

Fortnite Season 5 map changes: Goodbye vikings, hello castle?
The video, posted on the official FortniteGame Twitter account earlier today, seems fairly innocuous at first. However, if you look beyond the dancing display, significant changes are noticeable to the map’s landscape. As noted by lepracs, the Viking village added at the start of Season 5 is not depicted on its usual mountaintop. Furthermore, the villain’s lair, a core location relevant to last season’s theme, is also gone. The argument of render distance can be ruled out, as these locations are normally visible in-game from this same location. This is reflected in one of the screens shared in lepracs’ post.
Meanwhile, what appears to be a castle is faintly visible in the distant horizon. Whether or not these changes are indicative of a future map update remains to be seen. Recently, Epic has began ramping up the in-game events for Season 5. After an increase in lightning striking the map, a mysterious cube appeared near Paradise Palms. Also, as noted earlier, the new Tomato Temple replaced the fan-favorite Tomato Town point-of-interest.
What further mysteries await in Season 5?
It’s reasonable to believe that the rifts in the sky will continue wreaking havoc on the current map. Remember, there are only a few weeks remaining in Season 5. New locations may be incoming soon, and a historical castle fits nicely with the “worlds collide” theme of Season 5.
What do you think of the reveal? Is this nothing more than an emote, and users are reading too far into it? Or will we soon be storming the gates near Pleasant Park? Sound off in the comments below.
