“We know how much the esports community loves their energy drinks, so we’re thrilled to share Coke Energy with our fans,” said Pittsburgh Knights president James O’Connor, in a release. “Kicking off this partnership with our Rocket League team is just a perfect start. Lots to come in 2020 and we’re really looking forward to working with Coca-Cola.”

Coca-Cola recently released Coke Energy as its competing product in the energy drink space. The non-alcoholic beverage brand’s signature drink already contains caffeine. A standard Coke contains 32 mg, and a Diet Coke 42 mg, for each 12-ounce serving. However, the newly launched product features 114 mg of caffeine in the same size. Four varieties are available: Coke Energy, Coke Energy Zero, Coke Energy Cherry, and Coke Energy Cherry Zero.

The Pittsburgh Knights will create a series of content highlighting their esports teams. This includes their Rocket League team’s competition in Season 9 of the Rocket League Championship Series, running from Feb. 1 to the end of March. The Knights will also set up live brand activations presented by Coke Energy at several locations belonging to convenience store chain Sheetz. Fans will be able to meet its esports players and enjoy the drink.

The Knights are well known for their affiliation with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the signing of Wiz Khalifa as a strategic partner. The team currently competes in Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Melee, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Smite, Apex Legends, Trackmania, Gears 5, and Madden NFL. This partnership joins dental care provider Smile Direct Club, convenience chain Sheetz, data analytics platform Zoomph, and peripherals brand HyperX.
