PFG announces Make It Rein-Dog MultiVersus tournament series

MultiVersus development team Player First Games announced Thursday that it will sponsor a biweekly online tournament series. The MultiVersus tournament series is called Make It Rein-Dog, based on the game’s lone original character, Reindog.

Make It Rein-Dog will alternate between MultiVersus Singles and Doubles events. The first event in the series will be a Doubles tournament that will begin at 5 p.m. ET on October 14. Doubles tournaments will allow a maximum of 64 teams, while Singles brackets will have a 128-player cap.

In addition, the tournaments will each have a $500 prize pool. The top three players or teams in each bracket will each get a portion of this prize money. The first-place finisher at each event will walk away with the lion’s share of the prize pool, a $250 reward. Meanwhile, the second-place finisher will get $175 and the third-place finisher can expect $75.

More about Make It Rein-Dog MultiVersus tournaments

Player First Games first teased the Make It Rein-Dog MultiVersus series by sharing a small portion of the announcement graphic to Twitter on Wednesday. While community members successfully reverse engineered the name of the project, it was unclear that it would be a tournament series prior to Thursday.

The beginning of this series marks Player First Games’ first official support of the competitive MultiVersus scene since Evo 2022 in August. Currently, it is unclear if Warner Bros. is involved with this online tournament series like it was with Evo. Likewise, it is unconfirmed whether the developers will sponsor or host additional offline majors in the future.

For its debut event, Make It Rein-Dog will feature commentary from MultiVersus Evo champion Tyrell “NAKAT” Coleman and Evo commentator Angelo “AJAX” Rodriguez Jr. Registration for the event opens on Thursday and will operate on a first come, first serve basis.
