The second Overwatch League match of the last day of week three was a convincing victory. The Shanghai Dragons beat the Houston Outlaws 3-0-1.
A win needed for both
Out of the whole league, these two teams have the most to prove to their fans. The Dragons want to prove that they’re a playoff team now instead of a punching bag. The Outlaws want to prove to their fans that the best isn’t behind them. Both teams came into this match with a losing record, and if Shanghai won, then they would reach an even record of 6-6. When it comes to form, the Dragons were on the rise while the Outlaws were struggling to win. This was apparent in the match as well, as the only time that Outlaws performed well on a map, Dragons also performed well to bring a draw. The bright spots on the Outlaws were players Jiri “LiNkzr” Masalin and Austin “Muma” Wilmot.
Dragons catch fire
The Dragons showed how scary they can be with more diverse compositions, especially with their star DPS players. These same players were the standouts in their victory, especially with a surprising debut. For those who didn’t know, the only player left from the day one Shanghai Dragons roster is Weida “Diya” Lu. Being Chinese in a full Korean team, he didn’t get much play time in stage one. However, he made his debut this game on the map they drew, showing prowess on Ashe. The true best player on the Dragons, however, was other DPS player Jin-hyeok “DDing” Yang. His mastery of both Sombra and Pharah were clear in their win, dominating the Outlaws team. One nice surprise was Seong-hyeon “Luffy” Yang, getting plenty of kills as Zenyatta in crucial moments.
The Shanghai Dragons face the Washington Justice next after the Dallas home games. The Houston Outlaws face the Seoul Dynasty in Dallas next.
