Once Human’s new September Scenario includes forced PVP

News has dropped through Chinese media on the new scenario for Once Human, and it’s bad news for casual PVP players. In the first season, you could play through an entire PVP scenario without ever actually participating in PVP (but where’s the fun in that?). This time around, that’s changing.

With the new PVE scenario only coming in October, many casual Once Human players have been debating on whether to join the PVP servers and see the new scenario a month earlier. However, changes to the new season might dissuade many of those players.

The new map will now have a safe zone which players can explore and enjoy without the threat of PVP. Step outside of that zone though, and it’s player hunting season.

This is in contrast to the first season, where you could turn PVP off and explore the entirety of the first map without ever getting blindsided by a sniper at 500 yards.

With the new changes, PVE-focused players may well wait patiently for the October scenario to launch.

More changes that come with the new scenario will see players join one of two factions, either the Rosetta Conjunction or the Mayfly faction. This appears to be the warring factions that will fight each other in the new PVP zone.

Players from either faction will need to capture new “Reverse Anomalies” and then contain them within the PVP zone. This will earn the winning faction points, and at the end of the season the faction with the most points wins.

Players will be able to capture these Reverse Anomalies within the PVP zone, and there’s even talk of a giant dragon in the mix.

All of this does sound quite exciting, but much of it is subject to translation mistakes. We can only wait for official communication in English to be completely sure, but these changes could make PVP a whole lot more interesting!

Judging from screenshots on the website, the new season may be spread across only four phases, as opposed to the six in the Manibus scenario — but these phases may be longer in duration, so we’ll just have to wait and see on that.

Finally, we don’t seem to be getting an all-new map, as the screenshots are of the current region of Nalcott that we all know and love (and are probably a bit bored of).

While it’s sad we don’t have a new map just yet, these are promising changes and — if the lag issue in player wars gets sorted — could easily provide six more weeks of fresh entertainment to fans of the game.

We’ll be here to cover things as they happen, so stay tuned!
