Ninjas in Pyjamas announced on Tuesday, July 13, that they would be moving former player Kévin “Ex6TenZ” Droolans to an assistant coach role. Ex6TenZ has been struggling with prior injuries and will be taking time off from performing to assist in coaching for the team.

Ec1s left Team Liquid in May of 2021 before the roster qualified for Masters 2: Reykjavík. Since then, ec1s played for two different amateur teams by the name of Benchwarmers and No Poaching. The ladder team had been on an eight-game winning streak before ec1s left after winning the epic33 grand final against M4LIK. Now, ec1s will return to the main stage under Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Ec1s looks to revive Ninjas in Pyjamas

NiP entered the competitive VALORANT scene in August of 2020 alongside multiple other European teams. With their success in VALORANT’s sister title Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, NiP were shoe-ins to get a roster. However, the team struggled to break into the classification of a top-tier team. NiP is currently on a four-game losing streak after losing to Alliance in the first round of Champions Tour Europe Stage 3: Challengers 1 closed qualifier.

With NiP continuing to struggle in VALORANT, they will now be turning to a new face to revive their roster. Ec1s will be joining the team after a long hiatus from a signed roster. It is unclear whether he will return to VALORANT as the team captain for NiP, as he was for Team Liquid.

“It’s a great feeling and an honor to be joining NiP: an organization that I’ve watched since I was a little kid many years ago,” ec1s said in the announcement with NiP. “Seeing their legendary CS:GO rosters winning events, I always aspired to get there one day.”
