This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Update: According to industry insider Slasher on Twitter, Ninja is still in the middle of negotiating with streaming platforms. No deal has yet been signed, which means Ninja is simply streaming on YouTube because he felt like doing so. We’ll let you know if anything more comes from this.

Original post: A couple of weeks after news emerged of streaming platform Mixer shutting down, its former biggest star was still without a home. However, that changed today when Tyler “Ninja” Blevins announced he’s moving to YouTube Gaming.

This was somewhat expected, as a deleted test stream spilled the beans yesterday. Still, it’s a bit of a surprise to see the streamer pick YouTube over his former platform, Twitch. Perhaps the messy divorce was the reason. Whatever the case, Ninja will now stream on YouTube Gaming for the foreseeable future.

Ninja stealths over to YouTube Gaming

When Mixer announced its shutdown, everyone immediately began wondering where Ninja would move to. Even though he’s lost some popularity, Ninja remains one of the biggest streamers on any platform. Moreover, he’s arguably the most recognizable gamer in the world.

So, it’s no wonder why so many were intrigued by where he would end up. As previously stated, the initial expectation was that Ninja would head back to Twitch. He’d spent several years on the platform, garnering millions of followers and worldwide fame in the process.

However, the divorce between Ninja and Twitch didn’t exactly end well. Perhaps it’s for this reason that the former Mixer star is moving to YouTube for his streaming services. Earlier today, Ninja made the announcement and is now live on his YouTube channel.

YouTube Gaming now has a fairly impressive lineup of content creators and streamers. In recent months, they’ve signed Jack “CouRage” Dunlop, Rachel “Valkyrae” Hofsetter, and Lannon “Lazarbeam” Eacott. While Twitch still boasts more high-profile streamers, YouTube is certainly catching up.

Now that Ninja has signed to a new home, the next domino to fall is Michael “shroud” Grzesiek. Another former Mixer star, shroud has remained tight-lipped on his next destination. But that could change now in light of this recent news.
