New Burst SMG coming soon to Fortnite, stats data-mined

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The Fortnite v9.10 update files are chock-full of future content reveals. Numerous data-miners have dug into the patch notes and uncovered new and unseen items and cosmetics. However, along with the standard leaked skins and challenges, these miners discovered a new Burst SMG.

As with all leaked information, nothing is set in stone. Epic Games can change or adjust different settings on a dime. So just because something is in the files, it doesn’t mean it is 100% coming to Fortnite.

However, very rarely is there an actual model in the files that doesn’t end up in a future update. In the v9.10 files, a Vector-type SMG can be seen along with its stats.

Here’s everything we currently know about this new weapon.

A third SMG coming to Fortnite?

While it doesn’t feel like it, there are only two Submachine Guns currently in-game, the Drum Gun and Suppressed SMG. Maybe it seems like there are more with the Drum Gun being so dominant, but the SMGs have the lowest amount of weapons in their category.

Though Epic has vaulted three different SMGs, they apparently feel a new one is needed with the Burst SMG. Along with an actual image of the weapon, we can see the stats as well, thanks to @ShiinaBR.

Looking an awful lot like a real-life Vector, we will likely see this gun in the next update.

Expectations for the Burst SMG

Only going off of the stats provided by ShiinaBR, this new SMG doesn’t appear to be too strong. But again, it could act very differently in-game.

Obviously, Epic Games is trying to mix it up by including a Burst variant of the SMG. Most of their automatic SMGs have ended up in the Vault for being too overpowered, so this seems like their way of attempting something new with the Submachine Gun category.

We will have to wait and see if their experiment works out. This weapon is expected to go live with the next update.
