Magic: The Gathering’s newest set, War of the Spark, is arguably one of the most looked forward to sets to date. The cards portray the epic conclusion to over 5 years worth of sets, it’s a story we’ve been waiting forever to see the end of. Nicol Bolas is on Ravnica, and he’s trapping Planeswalkers there with the power of the Immortal Sun while he summons armies upon armies of undead from Kaladesh. The set is supposed to have 36 Planeswalkers, and we’ve seen many already revealed so far, which we covered in a post last week.

Shortly after that post, a somewhat blurry leak started making the rounds on Reddit.
Twelve Planeswalkers
In this image, we can see a ton of new War of the Spark spoiler cards, including 12 Planeswalkers. Since the image is out of focus, we’ve included a list of the names below:
- Karn, the Great Creator
- Gideon Blackblade
- Jace, Wielder of Mysteries
- Liliana, Dreadhorde General (Spoiled earlier)
- Chandra, Fire Artisan
- Nissa, Who Shakes the World
- Ajani, the Greathearted (Spoiled earlier)
- Domri, Anarch of Bolas
- Ral, Storm Conduit
- Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord
- Teferi, Time Raveler
- Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God
- Niv-Mizzet, Reborn
- Roalesk, Apex Hybrid
While we initially were hesitant to push what could have been a fake leak, it seems that this is authentic. Not long after this leak, we got an official announcement for Jace, Wielder of Mysteries.
What we can learn from this leak
We can learn a few things from this leaked image:
- First off, every single Planeswalker has a static ability. We could have gathered this from our previous spoilers, but it’s nice to have further confirmation.
- Gideon is, in fact, wielding the Blackblade from Dominaria to (hopefully) defeat Bolas.
- Niv-Mizzet, traditionally a Red-Blue dragon, is now 5 colors. We know he’s been searching for all the knowledge he can, maybe this is his final form.
- Sorin is free from his rock!
- The text is fuzzy, but we can make out the first line of Nicol Bolas’ card: “Nico Bolas, Dragon-God, has all loyalty abilities of all other planeswalkers on the battlefield”. Woah.
Ultimately, this leak seems genuine. If it proves to be as true as it seems to be, we are in for a wild ride when Magic: The Gathering’s War of the Spark is released.
