Maister wins Smash Ultimate Singles at Frame Perfect Series 2: Online

Enrique “Maister” Hernández Solís won Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Singles at Frame Perfect Series 2: OnlineFrame Perfect Series 2: Online on September 18. Maister used the tag “SONIC4EVER” throughout the tournament, as he has at several previous events.

As expected, Maister swept through pools without dropping a game. In the process, he defeated Lance “Sybil” Ostrea, Isaiah “Zsaih” Brown, and Misty “frawg” Ray. Maister continued his run in top 32 by defeating Eric “Mr. E” Weber 2-0 and Rylan “ChunkyKong” Silva 2-1.

Maister kicked off top 8 at Frame Perfect Series 2: Online by facing Luke “KirbyKid” Richmond. He solidly defeated KirbyKid 3-1. Maister’s final opponent of the tournament was Jay “mabelssb” M. He beat mabelssb 3-0 in both Winners and Grand Finals, ending his run in a dominant fashion.

Jason “Mew2King” Zimmerman hosted this tournament for subscribers to his Twitch channel. In addition to Smash Ultimate, the event includes brackets for Smash Melee and Rivals of Aether.

Runner-up mabelssb had a fantastic run at Frame Perfect Series 2: Online. Impressively, he did so while playing as the rarely used Dr. Mario. On his road to 2nd place, mabelssb defeated Dusty “Floppeh” Dugan, Arturo “Joker” Ochoa, “Sytonix,” and David “LeoN” Leon.

LeoN dipped into the losers bracket fairly early, dropping a set to Joker in top 32. However, he made a deep losers run in order to finish in 3rd place. LeoN made it into top 8 after winning sets against Pedro “Prodigy” Alonso, Tanner “SKITTLES!!” Jordan, and Edgar “Sparg0” Valdez. From there, he eliminated ChunkyKong and Sytonix. Finally, LeoN won his runback against Joker in Losers Semis before falling to mabelssb in Losers Finals.

Joker also earned many impressive wins en route to 4th place at Frame Perfect Series 2: Online. He defeated Gabriel “Epic_Gabriel” Romero and LeoN before mabelssb sent him to the losers bracket. Afterward, Joker beat Elam “Pokelam” Rosario, Mr. E, and KirbyKid.
