Two of the most predominant Agents in professional play, Jett and Skye, have been nerfed in the VALORANT 3.06 update, developer Riot Games announced today.
The robotic initiator KAY/O has also received a slight buff to his Flash while there have been some significant map changes included in the update.
Skye
Skye will receive a slight nerf to her Flash, ensuring that she can no longer popflash immediately. The unequip time after casting or bending Guiding Light’s projectile has been increased from .5 to .75 seconds. Meanwhile, the windup time after activation before the flash goes off has been increased from .25 to .3 seconds.
“We’ve liked that Skye has been able to play off her own flash more and more. But lately, there’s a sense that it’s become too effective and optimal to play off of herself in some situations,” Riot said.
Her Seekers, which are used often in professional play because of their low ultimate cost, have been increased in price to seven ultimate points.
Jett
The strongest duelist in professional play, Jett, will receive major nerfs to her smokes and her ultimate. Her Cloudburst has been reduced to two charges while her ultimate does not recharge if she gets a kill with the right-click/alternate fire. The right-click fire will mirror the damage from the left-click, also.
“We want to incentivize the high skill primary fire kills while still allowing the low-risk-low-reward burst fire option,” Riot said.
KAY/O
The weakest initiator in professional play, and ranked, has seen little play since his time on the server. 100 Thieves being one of the only major teams to have used the Robotic initiator since he was released.
While Skye’s Flash has been nerfed, KAY/O’s Flash has been buffed. The duration of windup telegraph has been reduced from 0.5 to 0.3 seconds. The duration of windup telegraph has been reduced on Right Click from 1 to 0.3 seconds. The audio upon throwing the projectile has also been removed.
KAY/O’s ultimate no longer stops pulsing and suppressing enemies after he has been downed.
Map changes
There have been multiple map changes in the latest update, with major changes on Icebox. Typically players struggled to plant on B-site on Icebox because it could be easily spammed. However Riot has changed the boxes to ensure they are no longer pennable.
Other map changes, along with the full patch notes, can be seen on the official VALORANT website.
