This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The Injustice 2 Pro Series reached its conclusion today, crowning its champion. The 16 man double elimination bracket had a lot of intense matches from the get-go and featured such prominent players as; Tweedy, FOX|SonicFox, BC|Biohazard, Noble|Rewind, Noble|Semiij, PG|Hayatei, DR Gross, BC|HoneyBee, DF|Grr, IrishMantis, Method|SylverRye, Scar, HappyPow, NASR|TekkenMaster, CLN|BasicS and HeeyGe0rge.

In a result that should surprise absolutely nobody, Sonic Fox was once again crowned champion, further cementing his status as the NetherRealm god as he showed off multiple characters including Joker, Captain Cold, and Black Manta. Which is even more impressive when you consider he is also the EVO champion in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Sonic Fox is a fighting game wunderkind, and I think we can expect to see him continue his domination of the FGC.

Tuesday is an odd day to hold a Grand Final, but the event was broadcast on Disney XD and ESPN3. While many held out hope for a possible Mortal Kombat XI announcement, the airing on Disney laid that rumor to rest fairly quickly. Something tells me the House of Mouse would have a problem with brutal dismemberment airing on its network, but that is just me.

Sonic Fox took home $40,000 for winning the championship, which was just part of the total prize pool of $100,000. For a game that is considered “dead” by most, that is some pretty big money to be throwing around. If they can swing that, maybe they can swing for a Fighter Pack 4? With the Power Rangers maybe? Too much? Hey, a guy can dream.
