How to thank the bus driver in Fortnite

Fortnite's bus driver is the hardest working NPC in gaming, but have you ever stopped to take the time to say "thank you?" Here's how you do it.

It’s a lot of fun jumping into a Fortnite battle royale match. The excitement of a possible victory, the thrill of a gunfight. But aren’t you forgetting the person who got you to the island in the first place? That’s right, you need to thank the bus driver.

Day after day, year after year, the Battle Bus flies over whichever island is live in the game, dropping you off so you can compete for Victory Royales. The driver never gets a break and never takes a day off, so you better at least say “thanks” for all his hard work.

If you’ve never done it, and simply don’t know how, here’s how you can show some appreciation to Fortnite’s hardest worker.

Thanking Fortnite’s bus driver explained

To thank Fortnite’s bus driver, either press down on your controller’s D-pad or press B on your keyboard. Once you do this, a pop-up will appear in the kill feed on the left saying “[Username] has thanked the bus driver.”

This can only be done when you are inside the Battle Bus, so don’t try and do it after you’ve jumped. Once you’re plummeting down towards the ground you’re simply too far away from the driver for them to hear you, so make sure to press it before you hurtle into the action.

Thanking the bus driver has been a part of Fortnite since 2018 after a petition was signed by thousands of fans who felt he deserved some recognition.

Sometimes, Epic also makes it a quest for players to complete, so if you’re new to the game and don’t know how, at least you now know how to show some appreciation to Fortnite’s must-underappreciated character.
