How to place the vial of Purified Quicksilver on the table in Diablo 4

One of the more frustrating tasks in the entire main story of Diablo 4 is to simply place a vial of Purified Quicksilver on a table. During this quest, called Witch of the Wastes, you are trying to help Donan attune the Soulstone for Lilith. Doing this will allow you and your comrades to trap her inside and stop her reign of tyranny over Sanctuary.

However, before Donan can properly attune the stone, you need to talk to Valtha, who is Taissa’s sister, out in the swamps of Hawezar.

Valtha supposedly has some quicksilver that Donan needs to finish his work on the stone. Of course, when you go to visit Valtha, Lilith has already turned her, and you will be required to defeat the witch. After defeating Valtha, players will travel back to Taissa’s hut and talk to Donan. Although, once Donan asks players to place a vial of Purified Quicksilver on the table, things start to get confusing.

If you have been stuck on this quest in Diablo 4, then fear not, as I will explain exactly what you need to do to progress in the guide below.

Placing the vial of Purified Quicksilver on the table in Diablo 4

First and foremost, after you defeat Valtha in the swamp, she will drop a Vial of Purified Quicksilver as a part of her loot. It’s imperative that you pick this vial up and make sure it’s in the Quest tab of your inventory before leaving. Then, you will need to make the walk back to Donan and Tiassa and not fast travel.

For whatever reason, when players pick up the vial and then fast travel back to the Waypoint closest to Donan and Taissa, the game resets the Vial of Purified Quicksilver. For example, I spent several minutes walking around Taissa’s hut trying to find a way to place the vial on the table like Donan had asked.

However, when I brought my map up again, the quest objective was still back at Valtha’s location. I had to go all the way back, retrieve the vial again, and then physically walk back to the hut.

When you get to the hut, this time after walking, you will find that the front of the table is now interactable. You can place the vial of Purified Quicksilver on this spot, and the rest of the quest will play out in Diablo 4.

And there you have it, placing the vial isn’t as difficult as you may have thought, but it can be frustrating to keep going back and retrieving the vial from Valtha’s location.
