Smoothstone can be a great block for flooring or even ceilings, given that it closely resembles concrete tiles in real life. It also has practical uses, such as being used in recipes to create the Blast Furnace as well. Whatever you need it for, here’s how to make Smoothstone in Minecraft.
How to make Smoothstone
You’ll need Cobblestone and a furnace with planks or coal to make Smoothstone. Place the Cobblestone in your furnace along with coal or planks, and you’ll turn the Cobblestone into regular old Stone. Then place the Stone back in the furnace, and voila, you have Smoothstone.
Where to find all the materials
Cobblestone drops from mining Stone blocks in the wild, and planks are crafted from logs that drop from trees in Minecraft. But if you want efficiency, it’s better to find Coal – it’s quite common so it’s easy to find.
You could simply dig down and look, or you could go to any surface level cave and you’re bound to find some Coal Ore. Simply mine it to get Coal.
How to use Smoothstone in Minecraft
Smoothstone can be used to make a Blast Furnace or to make Smooth Stone Slabs in Minecraft. In case you don’t know, here’s how to make a Blast Furnace in Minecraft, how to gather all the materials you’ll need, and how to use one.
Smoothstone Slabs are easy to make, just lay three Smoothstone Blocks in a crafting table horizontally.
Smoothstone also makes great flooring if you’re going for an industrial-type look. It also works well as a sidewalk — but since this is Minecraft, you can use it for whatever you want, be creative!
Sadly, we can’t make stairs, fences, or anything else out of Smoothstone for now, but who knows in future, the Minecraft team are always adding more stuff in each new update.
