How to get Ursaluna in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Finding and using the elusive Peat Block to evolve your Ursaring

Ursaluna is one of the several new Hisuian evolutions introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While players will receive an Ursaluna as a rideable Pokémon by naturally progressing through the story, actually obtaining one to use in battle is a bit more difficult.

How to get Ursaluna in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Since Ursaluna is not available in the wild anywhere in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the player must first catch a Teddiursa or Ursaring in order to evolve it into Ursaluna. The earliest both of these Pokémon can be found is in the Crimson Mirelands, in an area appropriately dubbed Ursa’s Ring.

Teddiursa in this area will typically be around level 20. If the trainer levels up a Teddiursa to level 30, then it will be able to evolve into Ursaring. Conversely, players can also find an Alpha Ursaring in Ursa’s Ring. However, this Pokémon will be level 46, so it may be difficult to catch until later in the game.

Evolving Ursaring

Ironically, players will likely rely on their rideable Ursaluna in order to get an Ursaluna for their team. This is because Ursaring evolves into Ursaluna when exposed to an item called a Peat Block in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Players can use their rideable Ursaluna to find Peat Blocks as hidden items scattered throughout the Crimson Mirelands.

Ursaring will only evolve when exposed to a Peat Block during a full moon. Fortunately, waiting for a full moon is not too burdensome of a task in this game. The game’s day-to-night cycle does not correspond to real-world time as in previous Pokémon games. As a result, trainers have the option to rest in a tent at one of the base camps until nightfall.

If the player is near a clearing, they can check to see whether the moon is full. However, the player doesn’t actually need to be able to see the sky to figure out if there’s a full moon. Ursaring will only be able to use the Peat Block if there is a full moon. Therefore, the trainer can simply check their bag and click on the Peat Block item to see whether Ursaring is compatible with the Peat Block at any given time.

If Ursaring is incompatible with the Peat Block, the player can rest in the tent until morning, rest again until nightfall, check to see if there’s a full moon and repeat as many times as necessary until the moon is in its correct phase. When it is, Ursaring will accept the Peat Block and evolve into Ursaluna in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
