In the Sebastion Sallow questline of Hogwarts Legacy, you will come up on a quest called “In the Shadow of Time.” This quest takes you to the Feldcroft Catacombs, where Sebastian says he believes there’s a relic inside that can potentially save his sister Anne. The catacombs are simple enough to get through, as all you have to do is fight some spiders and solve some easy puzzles. However, near the end of the catacombs, you will stumble upon a bone barricade that you have to get through in order to progress this quest in Hogwarts Legacy.
The bone barricade is made out of skeletons and the diary entry you pick up near it says that you have to use other skeletons in order to get through it and reach the relic. Unfortunately, you are given no other tips or hints about how to solve this puzzle. Luckily, I know exactly how to get through the barricade and progress In the Shadow of Time quest in Hogwarts Legacy.
To see what you need to do, check out the guide below.
Getting through the barricade in The Shadow of Time in Hogwarts Legacy
For starters, you want to approach the pedestal in the middle of the room with the skeleton on it and make sure you have a spell set with Accio equipped. Then, you want to look around the room and search for any large rings that have a white outline. These rings will be on the tombs that scatter the walls around you. You should be able to pull out two or three of these rings, which will reveal more skeletons.
Your next step is to use Accio on the skeleton on the pedestal in the middle of the room. Using Accio and Wingardium Leviosa, you need to bring the skeleton to the bone barricade door. With the skeleton at a medium height, release them near either one of the small bone posts on the outside of the barricade. This should cause the skeletons to form part of a doorway. They do this on their own, so you don’t have to do anything once you see them moving. You still need to position them in the relative shape of the doorway, though, otherwise the skeletons won’t move the way you want them to.
Then, use the other two skeletons you found the same way. Bring them over to the barricade, release them near the bone posts, and they should form the rest of the doorway. The end result is a complete arch of skeletons around the barricade, which is what you need to open the door. If you’re struggling to get the skeletons to form the doorway, try releasing them at different spots near the posts and at different heights. It might take some time, but you should eventually get it right.
You can now progress In the Shadow of Time quest in Hogwarts Legacy. As a note, there will be another bone barricade after you complete the first one. The process is the same for the next barricade as well, but you will have to do slightly more puzzle-solving to get the additional skeletons you need. It requires more searching and completing other, small puzzles to find the additional skeletons.
