How to get Sun Stones in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

A quick guide on how to get Sun Stones in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Just like every other Pokémon game, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet feature unique ways to evolve Pokémon. Not every Pokémon can evolve by just leveling it up. Some Pokémon need special items called stones to evolve. One of the stones that players may need to evolve their Pokémon is a Sun Stone. In older games, the Sun Stone was used to evolve Gloom into Bellossom and Cottonee into Whimsicott. Neither of those are in this game but the stone does have usage. These Sun Stones exist in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and there are a couple of different ways to get them. Here is a quick guide on how to get Sun Stones in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Sun Stones actually can’t be found as items in the wild. Instead, the only way to get Sun Stone guaranteed in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is through a special gym challenge for the Artazon Gym. This gym is the Grass-type gym in the game and can be found in the town of Artazon which is located in the southeast corner of the Paldea region. The gym challenge has the player collecting Sunflora around the town. When a player finds 10 of them, they complete the challenge. But as a bonus reward, the player receives a Sun Stone which is actually used to evolve the Pokémon Sunkern into a Sunflora. The other use for a Sun Stone is to evolve a Petilil into a Liligant. These are actually the only two Pokémon that can use a Stun Stone to evolve.

If players need another, Sun Stones could randomly be available at the auction house in Porto Marinada. This is a town in the West Province that players will have to cross the Asado Desert to gain access to. But once players progress through this point in the game, they can easily fly back to the area any time after. To check if Sun Stones are at the auction house, periodically check back to see if they are in stock.
