How to get Arceus in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The Mythical Pokémon will soon be available in the Sinnoh region

A new event is coming to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that will allow trainers to encounter and capture Arceus. Although the Mythical Pokémon was already available in the main story of Legends: Arceus, this will mark the first time players can obtain Arceus in the original Generation 4 remakes.

The event will not activate unless the player has downloaded version 1.3.0 of the games. This update is scheduled to go live at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Once players have updated Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, here’s how they can get Arceus in the Sinnoh region.

Obtaining the Azure Flute

In order to find Arceus, the trainer must first receive a special key item, the Azure Flute. This item is only available to players who have a save file for Pokémon Legends: Arceus on their Nintendo Switch. Players must have completed all of the main missions in their Legends: Arceus save file in order to qualify for this event.

Additionally, the trainer can only get the Azure Flute if they have beaten the Elite Four, entered the Hall of Fame and received the National Pokédex in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. If the player has met these stipulations, then they will find an Azure Flute waiting for them in their character’s bedroom once version 1.3.0 goes live.

After receiving the Azure Flute, trainers will be able to encounter Arceus in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl versions. The Pokémon deity will reveal itself to players who venture to Spear Pillar at the top of Mount Coronet.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus gave trainers the opportunity to encounter Arceus as part of the main story for the first time in the history of the series. With the new Azure Flute event, trainers can now obtain another Arceus to use in the Generation 4 remakes.
