How to gain the Forest Spirit’s approval in Reka

It’s a new area with new quests! The main goal here is to gain the forest spirit’s approval, and to do that we’ll need to complete three tasks of kindness. Everything is procedurally generated from here on out, so I don’t know what your map looks like, but trust me, we’ll figure it out!

Let’s get stuck in.

First task: Speak to the locals

Your first stop should be the town, Barzlin. Speaking to the locals there will give you a whole host of quests that you can complete for rewards, but more importantly, you’ll learn the location of places that you need in order to finish your acts of kindness.

So head over the Barzlin and do some talking. Make sure to speak to the hunter and anyone else you care to help — these quests aren’t all mandatory, but as true completionists, we want them done, right?

Now let’s appease that Forest Spirit. These tasks are in no particular order, and you only have to complete three of them.

Feed the deer

Your first quest should be to feed the deer. You’ll see a deer icon on your map once you’ve spoken to the locals and asked as many questions as possible. I’ve marked mine red, here it is:

This is very easy to accomplish, since the deer aren’t all that wild. Simply walk up to one and hit E to feed them a berry. Here’s well get our first glimpse of Leshy, the forest spirit. Well, that’s if he isn’t blocked by a tree, like in the above screen shot.

Help the Luthi

Find the home of the Luthi, which we get on the map from the start. Here it is, highlighted in red.

Talk to the main Luthi to receive a quest. He wants you to destroy the hunter’s stands in the area, and these, too, are randomly generated, so you’ll need to look around a bit. Luckily, they’re easy to spot.

To destroy them, throw your crows at them until they break down. Once you’ve got all of them (I had three), return to the Luthi for a reward.

You’ll also later find that the Luthi have stolen a beehive from the village. If you let them keep it, you’ll be able to make an offering at a new location on the map. Simply leave some porridge with honey by the tree that split the rock, and you’ll get another reward.

Free the trapped animals

If you spot a cage on the ground while exploring the map, use your crows to break it. You’ll free the animal inside, and appease Leshy.

And yes, you can even pick up the animal and take it home with you!

If you’ve completed these first three quests, you’ve already appeased the Forest Spirit, and he’ll invite you to “the sacred Place” — but if you want all the rewards, there’s more to do!

Feed the birds

The next task we can complete is to go meet the graveyard keeper, who can be found at the icon that appears to be a perching crow.

Talk to her to unlock two quests, one is destroying scare crows, and the other is feeding her birds. To feed the birds, you’ll need one fruity porridge and three normal porridge, which you can make at the oven back home with two grain and one fruit, and three grains for the normal porridge.

Simply place the porridge in the bowls just outside the home, and you’ll receive your reward instantly.

As for the scarecrows, you’ll find them near Barzlin in a field. I had four and once I destroyed them, and unlocked garlic. Head back to the graveyard keeper for another reward.

Go to the Sanctuary

Once you’ve completed three of these quests, Leshy will appear to you and invite you to a sacred place. You’ll get a new map marker, so simply head over there and complete the final stages of your quest.

If you get stuck at this point and you’ve completed all the quests, you might need to save your game, exit, and then reload it. Now, Leshy should appear next to the tree.

Talk to him to start your trial. Once you’ve spoken to him, send your crows into the tree above to harvest all of the cones, then place them in the tree.

After this, Leshy will ask you to scatter the cones around, so walk around until you see the prompt and scatter cones until Leshy calls you back.

And this will conclude our time in this forest. We’re free to move on to the next map, so take a last look around for any secrets, and if you freed the lumberjacks, head back to town to collect a reward for that.

Finally, speak to Baba Yaga, and we’re done.

A great family-friendly game

That’s it, you should have appeased Leshy now in this sweet, family friendly game. Wait… is that a…

Well, this game is certainly a little weird, that’s for sure. I really don’t know what to make of it, but I sure hope you’re enjoying it as much as I am!
