At the beginning of Starfield, you are able to select a specific trait from the character creator called “Raised Universal.” This trait allows you to become a member of the Sanctum Universum religion and gain access to a special chest you otherwise wouldn’t be able to loot.
Naturally, when players first enter Starfield, they will want to find and loot this chest, as it might contain valuable items that will be of use in the early game. However, the chest is not in an easily accessible location and you are given virtually no hints about how to find it.
Luckily, this guide will show you exactly where you can find the Sanctum Universum Chest in Starfield.
Sanctum Universum Chest location in Starfield
Fortunately, you can loot the Sanctum Universum Chest as soon as you arrive in New Atlantis. You need to visit the Sanctum Universum headquarters, which are located in the MAST district of New Atlantis. You can take the New Atlantis Transit (NAT) to reach this district.
Once in the MAST district, go up the ramp, then take a left, and go past the Freestar Collective Embassy. Just past the embassy is where you will find the Sanctum Universum base. It’s a large, gold building with some circular ring designs extending out in front of it. You can also take an immediate left from the MAST building and find the building straight ahead past the UC Memorial.
Enter the Sanctum Universum building and go immediately to the left. Right outside the Keeper’s office is where you will find a large yellow container, which is the Santum Universum Chest. Open it up to loot the following items:
- Sanctum Universum Vol 1
- Sanctum Universum Vol 2
- Sanctum Universum Vol 3
- Med Pack x5
- Heart+ x2
- Kefir
- Blue Neocity Poncho or Settler Casualwear

This might be a letdown for some players, as they were undoubtedly expecting some kind of cool item that would show off their dedication to the Sanctum Universum. However, some books and other items will have to do.
