How to exchange a Shiny Pokémon for another Shiny

Take advantage of this method while you can
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information

A new and secret method to exchange one shiny Pokémon for another was discovered by the Pokémon community. In order to complete this maneuver, players should first understand how to get Shinys in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Luckily, a Pokémon’s data is saved before it appears, so you can save the game in front of it and turn the console off, and the Shiny Pokémon will still be there!

How to change a Shiny Pokémon to another species

Ultimately, there are limits to exchanging Shiny Pokémon. You can’t change the Pokémon to any particular species you may want. The method is based on the fact that, depending on the time zone of the game, Pokémon of one species or another will appear. For example, during the day a shiny Shinx may appear in Obsidian Fieldlands. But, if you looked in that area at night, this shiny Pokémon would be a shiny Drifloon.

In order for this process to work, you must follow all of the steps below.

Step 1: Find a Shiny Pokémon

Finding a wild Shiny Pokémon is the first and most complicated step. But, if for some reason you already have one, you can move straight to Step 2.

Step 2: Take the time of day into account

As mentioned above, to change the Shiny Pokémon to another that appears there, you must change the time between night and day. Go to the tent without traveling out of the area. You can get there with the minimap or walk. Once there, you can change the time zone so that that the Pokémon’s Shiny appears.

Step 3: Reset the console and go to the area the Shiny Pokémon was in

Once you have completed the above steps, save the game. You will then see that your original Pokémon will have been exchanged for a different species. Enjoy your new Shiny Pokémon!

It’s also important to note that, although this method currently works, it may not continue in upcoming patches, so take advantage of it while you can.
