Defenders of the Omniverse is a delightful new bullet hell title from newcomers Babushka Entertainment. The first boss we meet, Tum & Erk, can be quite challenging at first, but if you know the strategy, he’s easy to defeat.
Here’s how to kick his butt.
How to defeat Tum & Erk, the Abomanition
Tum & Erk immediately became one of my favorite bosses in any video game. The graphical style mixed with his ludicrous design make him something to remember. Beating him is pretty easy though.
He loops through three attacks. The first one sees him flying into the air and slowly dropping down onto you. To avoid this, simply be outside of the circle by the time it fills. Just keep moving and you’ll be fine… unless you’re playing as Sasha, in which case you might have to dash out of the way. Her move speed just isn’t all that.
When he lands, he also shoots some fireballs that you’ll want to avoid. After he does this attack three times, he gets stunned for a few seconds and you can deal some damage there.
Once he gets up, he’ll shoot more projectiles, but these turn into fixed turrets that blast darts at you, so you’ll want to take those down as quickly as possible, all while avoiding his final attack, which deals damage over time in an area covering three lanes on the ground.
Once that’s over, it all happens again.
As Tum & Erk’s health depletes, more enemies will start to spawn, but nothing else changes, so just keep avoiding his attacks and whittle away his health.
And that’s it, you win. For more, check out my early strategy guide for Defenders of the Omniverse.
