How to defeat Hugh & Mungus in Defenders of the Omniverse

This boss fight is quite the challenge at first. There are a lot of mechanics going on here, and it can take a few tries before you really get the hang of them. Well, I’m here to help you knock him out first try… or, second try, maybe. You wouldn’t be reading this if he didn’t already whoop your butt, right?

Well, don’t fear, you’ll soon be the one doing the whooping. Let’s get stuck in.

You’ll probably take a few hits here, no doubt about that. But it shouldn’t be a problem if you can get some power armor before the battle. Else, you just have focus. The first thing to note is that there are three health crates at the top of the arena. Use them as you need them.

Now, Hugh & Mungus alternates between a few attacks. The first is that he simply just chases you, and I hope you have the move speed to outrun him (Sasha might die here). Just avoid him, and wait for the first attacks, which are charge attacks.

You’ll see a line appear on screen, and all you need to do is get out of the way. He repeats this five times, ending with two charge attacks in quick succession. He’ll stand still, and here’s where you have to watch for the next attack.

He’ll jump up and down now, sending out three damaging and slowing shock waves across the battlefield. The only way to avoid them is to dash across, so save your dashes for this moment.

After this, he’ll spray you with bullets. This is a difficult attack to avoid, since he doesn’t aim where you are, but where you’re going. This means that if you try to avoid by strafing, he’ll hit you with every bullet.

The trick here is to zig zag, making you impossible to hit.

Finally, once his health reaches a certain point, he’ll begin to fire artillery at you. You’re fine, as long as you have the movement speed to outpace the shells.

And that’s it, he starts his cycle from scratch, and you now know which attacks are coming and when. Good luck out there!
