How to deal with the mobility changes in Fortnite Season X

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Fortnite Season X started off with a bang. Multiple items, including the B.R.U.T.E., came into the Fortnite world. Epic Games vaulted other items to drastically change the game. Four key mobility items left the Fortnite loot pool. Players can no longer find Ballers, Quad Crashers, Shadow Bombs, and Glider Redeploys. Additionally, the Slipstream that spanned almost the entire map has disappeared. Epic Games is clearly looking for Season X to have less mobility than seasons before.

Get ready to run

The lack of mobility should cause players to focus more on the storm. In Season 9, the mobility options spread across the map and loot pool. Now, players are limited to a set number of items and locations for mobility. Epic Games removed Sky Bases as well. These provided players a free movement boost all over the map.

With all these mobility options removed, the storm becomes even more deadly. Players must be aware of the zone when landing on the outskirts.

How to get around the Fortnite map

The Slipstreams at Neo Tilted and Mega Mall remain. Also, the orb at Loot Lake now contains a Rift. Additionally, two vehicles provide mobility to players. The Driftboards and the new B.R.U.T.E. Mech allow players to move faster. The only two mobility items in the game are Shockwave Grenades and Jump Pads. In general, players must rotate sooner and prioritize movement. These changes will greatly affect competitive play.

Tournaments, including the Fortnite World Cup, saw heavy use of Ballers. The Baller spawn locations became heavily contested drops due to their importance late in games. With the removal of Ballers, strategies and drops will no doubt change dramatically. Players also regularly used Shadow Bombs to rotate in competitive play. It will be interesting to see how they adapt to the new loot pool. Based on the lack of movement items, the middle of the map could become more highly contested.
