This Tera Raid battle features Decidueye with the Grass Tera-type, as opposed to its standard Grass/Fighting-type combination. Still, trainers taking on this raid event should be prepared for Grass, Fighting, and Rock-type coverage moves in this difficult raid challenge.

When will Hisuian Decidueye appear in Tera Raids?

The 7-star Hisuian Decidueye Tera Raids will begin on Friday, October 6, 2023. The dates for the event are the following ranges:

October 6 – October 8

October 13 – October 15

Once the event concludes, the only way to obtain a Hisuian Decidueye will once again be through trading or importing one from Pokémon HOME using Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Hisuian Decidueye stats

7-star Hisuian Decidueye assumes the Grass Tera Type, which makes it weak to Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison-type moves. Decidueye shedding its Fighting-type does result in it losing a few more weaknesses, however pure Grass-type still gives players many to exploit.

Hisuian Decidueye’s stats define it as a physical attacker, so it’s a good idea to bring in a Pokémon with a high physical defense to withstand Hisuian Decidueye’s attacks. Defensively, Hisuian Decidueye’s Defense and Special Defense stats are about even, so either physical or special attackers can take it on.

Hisuian Decidueye moves

Hisuian Decidueye can come equipped with the following list of moves: Triple Arrows, Brave Bird, Shadow Claw, and Leaf Blade. Like all other 7-star Tera Raids, it can also have four extra moves which include Bulk Up, Swords Dance, Grassy Terrain, and Leaf Storm.

Hisuian Decidueye will always use the move Bulk Up on turn two to boost its Attack and Defense stats, with it also use Swords Dance after its Tera Shield goes into effect. Pokémon with moves or abilities that ignore Stat increases like Clear Smog or Unaware are incredibly useful for this raid as Decidueye can go on a tear.

Hisuian Decidueye Best Counters

We recommend these three Pokemon and movesets to best take on Hisuian Decidueye:

Hisuian Decidueye Tera Raid

Ogerpon (Hearthflame Mask)

Level: 100

Nature: Adamant

Tera Type: Poison

  • Ivy Cudgel
  • Swords Dance
  • Focus Energy
  • Taunt

Ogerpon in its Hearthflame Mask form functions as a fast physical attacker with adequate defensive stats to to take on Hisuian Decidueye’s attacks.

The main goal with this Pokemon is to simply survive, boost attack with Swords Dance, Taunt to stop set-up moves, build up Tera charge, and then unleash Ivy Cudgel to do major damage. This build is perfect for the player taking on the main damage dealer role, while still being able to stick around.

Iron Moth

Level: 100

Nature: Modest

Tera Type: Poison

  • Acid Spray
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Morning Sun
  • Fiery Dance

This build consists of moves to not only deal damage, but also have the chance to increase Iron Moth’s Special Attack while simultaneously lowering Hisuian Decidueye’s Special Defense.

Iron Moth accomplishes this with Acid Spray (a weak Poison-type attack that lowers the target’s Special Defense by two stages) and Fiery Dance (a stronger move that has a 50% chance to raise Iron Moth’s Special Attack by one stage). Additionally, Morning Sun and Healing cheers help to keep Iron Moth at a good amount of HP for the whole battle.

Hisuian Decidueye Tera Raid
Mew is a great option for Tera Raids due to its great movepool and Tera Type combinations | Image: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet/The Pokemon Company/Game Freak

Mew

Level: 100

Nature: Adamant

Tera Type: Bug

  • Swords Dance
  • Leech Life
  • Lunge
  • Reflect

Last but not least, players who wish to play a support role can try out this Mew build.

For this set, give Mew the Bug Tera Type to capitalize on Hisuian Decidueye’s weakness to Bug-type attacks.

Leech Life helps survivability while dealing solid damage. Lunge de-buffs Decidueye by lowering its Attack by one stage, while Reflect further helps the team take physical hits. Finally, Swords Dance turns Mew into a heavy hitter.

What’s about Mew is its solid stats and nearly endless move pool. This set is one of potentially many Mew can assume to bring Hisuian Decidueye down.
