How Mod Conversion works in Once Human

We can now convert mods into (potentially) better ones in Once Human. But how, exactly, does mod conversion work? In this post, I’ll break it all down with as much as I have discovered in-game.

Enjoy.

How to Convert Mods in Once Human

First, head to your mods menu. The easiest way is to hit the K-key to enter your gear menu, and then navigate to the Mods menu. Then click on Mod Conversion on the right-hand side of your screen.

Now pick the mod you want to create. Since I could use a better Bottoms mod on my Fast Gunner build, I’ll start there. You’ll need at least three legendary mods of the same type in order to create a new mod.

The mod I want to create is Bullet Siphon, so I’ll click on it on the left side and then click on the Suffix button. Since I have a Weakspot build, I want a Precision suffix.

Next, we’ll click on the plus button to see all of our mods with the suffix “Precision” — we’ll need to choose at least four.

During this step, we also want to try and choose mods that have the sub stats (or attributes) that we want. So I’m looking for any mods that have Weapon DMG, Mag Capacity, and Damage to Great Ones.

Finally, we need to add two additional mods with any suffix, however we still want to look for our desired attributes to try to outnumber undesirable ones.

On the right-hand side of the screen, you’ll be able to see the quality of the attributes you’re likely to get by converting this mod. It stands to reason that as you re-convert mods again, you’ll get an even better quality mod.

Finally, we’re ready to create our new mod for 20,000 energy links. Will we get the attributes we want?

No. But this is still quite a good mod and a few enhancements will improve it even more. And that’s pretty much all there is to know about Mod Conversion in Once Human. It’s a tricky practice, but with enough tries, I’m sure we’ll get all the mods we wanted.

If you don’t know how yet, here’s how to tame animals in Once Human, another new feature that was added in the last update.
