Hearthstone is celebrating the Lunar New Year with a new card back, returning Tavern Brawl, legendary quest chain and festive cosmetics.
Dancing Lion card back
If Hearthstone players haven’t already done so, then they can sign in and claim a free Dancing Lion card back. This card back was designed by Xi Luo, who won a contest. According to the announcement, Luo is also a Hearthstone fan.
“This has special meaning to me,” Luo said. “It’s a dream come true to design something that gets added to a Blizzard game, and I’m very glad to see players looking forward to getting this card back. A huge thanks to the people who supported me.”
Hearthstone players have until Feb. 8 to claim the Dancing Lion card back.
Lunar New Year in Hearthstone
Adding more to the festivities is the return of the Lunar Blessing Tavern Brawl.
When players enter this game mode on Wednesday, they can select a class and receive a random deck. Players then choose a blessing from a zodiac animal to gain an advantage.
How to get Hearthstone card packs
Also beginning on Wednesday, players can participate in a legendary quest chain that contains three parts. After the completion of this quest chain, players will be given card packs. A total of six packs can be earned.
Below are the card pack awards:
- Forged in the Barrens card pack x1
- United in Stormwind card pack x1
- Fractured in Alterac Valley Packs x3
- Golden Fractured in Alterac Valley Pack x1
This legendary quest chain event runs from Feb. 2 to Feb. 16.
New Hearthstone cosmetics
A bunch of festive cosmetics are available during the Lunar New Year event. Players can select from three differently ranked hero portrait bundles, new Hearthstone Battlegrounds hero portraits and a new Battlegrounds Bartender. Meanwhile, Diao Chan Valeera returns with more voice lines and a new card back.
Those who enjoy using emotes during matches can also give their opponents Lunar New Year greetings.
Hearthstone’s Lunar New Year event ends on Feb. 16.
