The new franchise logo ties in with the colour scheme used across the Gen.G brand, which is black and gold. The image on the logo shows a crouching tiger, a symbol familiar to Gen.G fans, in an attempt to engage more in the NBA 2K League. The position of the tiger suggests the team are ‘ready to pounce’, representing them as being quite powerful. Meanwhile, the team name is underneath the tiger in black and white.

Following the team name and logo reveal, the League launched its own channel on the Chinese social platform Weibo. This allows Chinese fans to stay up-to-date on everything happening in the League and creates further inclusivity in the market.

”We are thrilled to introduce the Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai, the latest addition to Gen.G’s #TigerNation,” Chris Park, CEO of Gen.G., said in a press release. “The 2020 season will be historic for both Gen.G and the NBA 2K League’s bright future in Asia.”

Last year, Gen.G revealed that the Tigers of Shanghai would be the the first team outside of North America to join the 2020 NBA 2K season. The organization has been collaborating with the League to help expand the reach of NBA 2K.

“The launch signified the first step in Gen.G’s long-term effort to help the NBA 2K League develop a stronger presence globally, with an emphasis on Asia and China in particular,” read the press release.
