Fortnite World Cup winner Bugha honored with in-game Fortnite trophy

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

After he came out on top in the first-ever Fortnite World Cup, Epic Games is now immortalizing Bugha forever within Fortnite itself. They have created a replica of his trophy that, following the latest update, now sits in Lucky Landing. Having the actual trophy in-game is pretty cool – as if the huge sum of cash he won with his victory wasn’t already enough. But the honor was definitely earned. Millions of people competed online to earn a spot in the finals, with only 100 players actually reaching New York City. For Bugha to beat out all of them and come out on top truly was impressive.

Bugha’s trophy isn’t the only one now proudly displayed in the game, though. Duo champions Nyhrox and Aqua also have their own trophy located in Happy Hamlet. So if you haven’t taken a good look at their trophies’ real-life versions yet, feel free to check out these virtual replicas.

Nhyrox tweeted about seeing his trophy displayed in-game. His one-word message nicely sums up how most players would probably feel after that.

How Bugha is handling his new fame

Kyle ‘Bugha’ Giersdorf is currently more than just the Fortnite World Cup Champion. He is also the fastest-growing streamer on Twitch. His success came, of course, with more social media followers, though there was also an unfortunate live swatting incident just this past weekend.

Bugha has remained quite grounded in spite of all this. It’s nice to see that attitude, especially after he just won the biggest prize pot ever in esports history as just a single player. While the Fortnite World Cup is over for now, I am sure this won’t be the last we will hear from Bugha or the other top winners. And even if it is, it’s good to see that Epic Games wants to celebrate these important milestones in esports history.
