Fortnite appears to be teaming up with one of the most known titles in all of gaming. In a teaser image posted on Twitter, Fortnite teased a collaboration with the upcoming Borderlands 3, which comes out Sept. 13. This would be the latest in a long line of high-profile partnerships for Epic Games and Fortnite. In the past, they’ve teamed up with Marvel, Stranger Things, Marshmello, and, last week, Major Lazer. However, we don’t currently know what the Borderlands x Fortnite collaboration will bring to either game. Though, we can always venture a guess or two.
The Fortnite and Borderlands event coming soon
On Twitter, Fortnite is calling this upcoming event “FortniteXMayhem.” This most likely relates to Borderlands‘ official hashtag on Twitter, #LetsMakeSomeMayhem. Below you can see the teaser image posted to the official Fortnite Twitter account.

If you didn’t see it or don’t play Borderlands, there is a Psycho character in the bottom left of the screen. The Psychos are the main poster character for Borderlands and serve as one of the enemy NPCs in the games.
While there are other Fortnite skins and items around the Psycho, this is probably just filler for the image. This event came completely out of the blue, as there wasn’t one single leak or rumor surrounding anything close to this collaboration.
However, we don’t know exactly what this event will bring. With the release of Borderlands 3 slated for Sept. 13, we’re assuming events will happen closer to then. Although, the bigger question is how will this affect either game.
In the past, Epic Games has always teamed up with entertainment entities, but the event usually stays contained to Fortnite only. While that remains a large possibility, Borderlands could very well feature some kind of Fortnite skin in their upcoming title.
Epic Games will most likely follow suit and release a Psycho skin in the Item Shop. Beyond this though, we’re not sure what else this event could bring. Maybe some Borderlands-themed POIs, or a game mode could arrive in Fortnite.
