Fortnite Season 2 map leak confirmed fake by creator on Reddit

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Yesterday, we reported on a possible leak concerning the Fortnite Season 2 map and cinematic trailer. The leak originated on 4Chan, a popular forum where anonymous users can post leaks, information, etc. It’s always hard to trust stuff that comes from such an unreliable source. However, there was always a slight chance it could be true, hence why we reported on it. But now, it seems to creator has come forward on Reddit to claim the leak was in fact false. So, we apparently still don’t know anything regarding Fortnite Season 2.

Fortnite Season 2 leak proved to be fake

As Season 2 slowly approaches, various leaks will no doubt start surfacing all over social media. Most of the time, they’re just fans coming up with unique concepts to draw attention to themselves. Still, there have been instances in the past where a random leak has turned out to be true.

The most recent leak on 4Chan is not an example of this. It was sketchy to start with, as the images were blurry and the map seemed to match a concept posted to Reddit. Nonetheless, some in the Fortnite community didn’t completely dismiss it. It turns out, however, that the leak was indeed false, as confirmed by the creator themselves. This video was posted to Reddit yesterday and reuploaded by @iFireMonkey.

So, the creator obviously went out of their way to create this false leak. The process they used is pretty extensive, which is why the images looked somewhat real. Even though most knew it was fake, the community is relieved by the confirmation. Truth be told, the falsified map looked fairly boring compared to the Fortnite Season 1 map.

While we don’t have any additional information on Season 2, we now know what to look out for when trying to decipher leaks.
