Fortnite Season 2 end date delayed heavily by Epic Games

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Epic Games has announced that Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 2 is being delayed until June 4. Originally set to end on April 30, Season 2 will now be extended for more than another month. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise given the current circumstances in today’s world with the COVID-19 crisis. Like most other companies, Epic Games employees have been working from home for the better part of a month. So, the developers can’t get as much work done, which most likely led to the delay.

Fortnite Season 2 delayed until June

This announcement produced some mixed reactions from the Fortnite community. For some, this is seen as a great thing for a number of reasons. With an extra two months, many players will now be able to unlock the gold styles for the various Battle Pass skins. If the season ended on April 30, many players wouldn’t have been able to earn enough XP to acquire the gold skins.

However, there are others in the community that would much rather see a new season than a continuation of Season 2. While there have been weekly updates in Fortnite, the overall content hasn’t been present. Sure, there have been a few different weapons and items added, but it doesn’t come close to matching what was available in previous seasons.

This could change with the Season 2 delay, though. Epic Games stated in its blog post about the extension: “Before then, there’s lots of content coming in the current Season. We have multiple game updates on the way that will deliver fresh gameplay, new Challenges, bonus XP, and a couple more surprises up our sleeve!”

It’s uncertain what this new content is, but it could have something to do with the various map changes Fortnite has undergone. Hopefully, Epic makes the delay worthwhile for the players still hopping on to play Fortnite.
